I have been in the ELT field for over 27 years, working in a large Binational Center in Brasília, Brazil, called Casa Thomas Jefferson. I am currently the Academic Superintendent. I have an MTESL Degree from Arizona State University and a Doctorate in Education from Universidade de Brasília.
My interest in NNEST issues arose when I was invited by Ana Wu to be interviewed for the blog, based on my responses on the NNEST discussion list regarding our hiring policies at Casa Thomas Jefferson and how we favored qualified professionals, native or non-native, and did not give any special treatment or priority to NEST just because they were native speakers. A few months later, I learned that the blog team was in search of new members and I volunteered.
Since then, my interest in NNEST issues has grown and I have sought opportunities to become more and more familiarized with the literature. Preparing interviews and reading my colleagues’ interviews has been a fantastic source of growth. In fact, being on this blog team has enabled me to develop professionally and personally.
